I do not remember suggesting that to you, but I will take your word for it. At 94 there are some things that I have let go even about my kids. But if you say it happened that way I will gladly take the credit. Your dad grew up in a house where there was music all the time and you have him to thank for your talent but perhaps I contributed to your success in other ways. Thank you for remembering. Mom
You definitely suggested it Mom! Thanks for everything you have always done to support my music and writing. You are one of my main advisors now and you were then! ox!
Great song Elizabeth, and equally lovely micro memoir of the living room tour music scene. I trust you will one day be writing a compelling and colorful underground classic about your bohemian musical adventures. Thanks!
ah thanks Steve! I think about that memoir at times...and how many colorful parts would be hard to include without making myself or someone else feel embarrassed. The full truth is always pretty interesting though. Maybe I need to write it and have it be published after I am dead and gone...
Such memories Elizabeth! My wife Tammy and I hosted your living room show in Old Bridge, NJ, where we invited all the EDAs to show up. And boy they did. We had a little stage area with a backdrop curtain of muslin with stars and moons painted in blue with stamps we bought. You guys stayed upstairs in our guest bedroom and made the night truly magical. Then everyone packed up and moved on to follow you to the PA show the next night. What a great time.
Hi Robert! I totally remember your house crawling with happy EDAs and the stage with the stars and moons. What I loved about the Living Room shows is that they broke down the barrier between the performers and the audience. The audience and the generous hosts like you made a cauldron for magic, and magic boiled over. Thanks for all you did then, and thanks for the memory!
Funny PS to this story: I was trying to look up the lyrics to "The Goodwill Store" on my computer to add to the Youtube video. Instead I was directed to lyric site, that said my song was written by Jewel. There was an audio clip, but it was Jewel singing "You Were Meant for Me," her big hit that she co-wrote with Steve. That was weird, but what REALLY annoyed me was that instead of "I'm in a cinnamon roll," they had the lyric as "I'm in a sentimental role." Ugh! That is a terrible lyric! I know I should try to fix that but it's too hard to figure out how.
Thanks, and welcome! :) Well, the 1997 Everyday Angel listserv is no longer active, but I just checked and there is a Facebook page and a foundation. Alan Bershaw, who is still a good friend and still works for Jewel, posts on there quite a bit. https://www.facebook.com/groups/110722775615046

Well done, Betty! I'm glad that Elizabeth listened to your wise words that launched this movement.

I believe you can write it with the details of your choosing. Anyway you're a good writer as well as a great song writer. Cheers.

Very fun watching and listening to your younger self and reading about your musical adventures. So cool that you know Jewel!

Spotify knows it's by you. Count me as a new fan! Is it too late to become an Everyday Angel?
