A few days ago, I suddenly remembered this song I wrote called “Let the Green Flow.”
It transmitted as songs do, into the regular rotation in the radio station of my mind. I tried to ignore it because I have so many other songs I need to record, but then I realized it was showing up for a reason. I need to let the green flow to shake off the blues. I only performed it once in the Before Times, at our Waterwitch CD release concert four years ago, June 30, 2019. It is most definitely a summer solstice song.
Brian and his brother Aaron Castillo had made a video of the song at the time, and I’d even put it onto Youtube, but had never made the video public. Kind of weirdly, I was looking at my channel yesterday and saw it there as a private video. I took a listen and decided to share with you. Sound is not awesome, but it’s a fun performance with the band and seems right for the solstice.
Thanks to Brian Castillo, Aaron Castillo (videography), Tyrrell Sweetman (cello), Jon Green (bass), Robin Toye (percussion) and Eleanor Murray (vocal backups). Also thanks to Ken Levy for doing the sound that night.
Even if the fairies come and go, magic is real in some way or another. Now time to go to the beautiful green woods and plant my feet in the earth. Let the green flow!
I don't exactly understands what this song is about, but it's fun. And you all seemed to have a great time singing/playing it!
I love it! Happy Summer Solstice!
