Forgot to link to the NYT article. https://www.nytimes.com/2022/06/15/magazine/gender-therapy.html

I think the primary issue that the article alludes to, but doesn't make clear, is that on transgender issues, many professionals are bringing their own agendas to a medical issue that needs to remain

evidence based. We don't offer controversial medical treatments with lots of side effects to patients until we can prove efficacy. Why are we doing this to KIDS?

Thanks so much for your work on this issue, and your letter to Glenn. I follow Glenn and John, and am now subscribing to your substack. Your letter on trans issues was amazing!

Like Glenn, my views on the trans issues are evolving. But this recent NYT article was eye opening, and made it clear that many medical providers are putting their own perspectives ahead of the health of adolescents.

I'm a family/ emergency physican, and I've recently become incredibly concerned about what we are doing to adolescents who have gender dysphoria. Started reading and trying to figure out how in the hell the medical establishment let this happen ( eg. why isn't the medical community following long standing adages of " first do no harm". Why aren't we practicing " evidence based medicine?). These kids need help, but we've let a radical agenda push medicine to the point that we are hurting kids. Is there anything I can do to help you?

About those supposedly "transphobic" pussy hats...do the people calling them that understand they're not meant to look like female genitalia? Do they even know what female genitalia looks like?

I'm a years-long reader of John McWhorter, and through him discovered Glenn. I can only echo your admiration of him - what an American treasure we have (even though it feels like he's my little secret!). I read your letter on Glenn's Substack, which then took me to your newsletter, which I just subscribed to. I don't have anything revelatory to add to your philosophy (you did a commendable job), but just wanted to say that I admire and appreciate any writer who takes the time to share their reasoned, compassionate, and bold thoughts with the larger world who are often calcified by their fear of dissent. Our world needs more Elizabeths, Johns, and Glenns.

So thank you.

It was interesting to read how you got launched on your journey, Elizabeth. I remember reading about the outlawing of the pussy hats, too, on racial grounds and thinking how sad and silly to see these hats as representing anyone's skin color! I guess that was just a small preview of "coming attractions" in racial relations, as well as gender identity issues. How much has changed since 2017! So glad that your growing awareness has led you where it has and that you are using your writing and musical talents to help others gain awareness, too!
